TASTE LAB

TASTE LAB is a multi-sensory experiment involving taste, sound and touch. This experience immerses the user inside a virtual universe where he/she will be fed by a strange someone. The virtual universe remains very similar to reality in its tangibility, but in its aesthetics and environment, it becomes aseptic and impersonal. Everything is happening synchronously inside and outside the virtual world.

How much should we trust what's happening around us when we are in the virtual world? Should we trust our sensory feedback which can be altered/hacked so easily? How do we perceive and what's the memory of what we eat? Is it really possible to trigger our senses differently?

Today we trust that what we eat doesn't harm us. This project tries to raise questions about what and how we consume food and the memory of it. It also puts the user in an uncomfortable position, because he/she needs to have a certain propensity to trust the performer who will feed him/her. This experiment uses Virtual Reality as a medium to trick our brains and explore the roles played by our senses while eating.
